Surgeons' Lives. Published June 2005. For anyone interested in the practice of surgery, Surgeons' Lives spans the 500-year history of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh from the 16th century to the present day. Published on the occasion of the Quincentenary celebrations of the College, editors Iain MacLaren and Iain Macintyre have compiled an anthology of College Fellows. Surgeons' Lives weaves together the personal and professional achievements of Fellows, linked by their membership of this "Famous and Flourishing Society". Some of the names are of international renown, others less well known, but all have an interesting story to tell.
